Newcastle have dominated the recent meetings between the pair winning four and losing just one of their last six. This includes a 4-1 success in the reverse fixture back on the 17th of August.
The Royals got back to winning ways on Saturday as they defeated Wolves 2-1 at the Madejski Stadium. Newcastle made it back-to-back victories over their promotion rivals when they won 3-1 at Huddersfield.
Reading have won four and drawn one of their last five at home but they come up against a Newcastle side in a buoyant mood. The Magpies have beaten Huddersfield and Brighton on the road in the last two and we see no reason why they should not beat a Royals outfit who have lost to both of those teams recently.
The Magpies have netted two or more goals in nine of their last 12 away matches but we do not think they can do the same here against a Royals defense . We are expecting a low scoring affair.
